WAS IT A CAT I SAW?

With a palindrome as a show title, the works by Akiko Kurihara are quite clever, funny, and strange while also very wearable/approachable. The exhibition was at Micheko Galerie. I will put a caption with the descriptions of each work which are sort of like a small poems.

Faces -- "Every pearl looks alike, but is actually not."

Men -- "A man is not always what he seems to be."
confetti -- "If you would walk through a parade or festival,
you might find some confetti on your jacket."
"Bookmark yourself!"

Nine Jewelers at the Bowling Alley

Fallmamal – Umsturz Erwünscht | Nine Jewelers at the Bowling Alley.

This exhibition took place in a one lane bowling alley in the basement of Theresa Restaurant. It was still a functioning bowling alley so you had to take of your shoes to walk down the wooden lane to view the work. We absolutely loved this space. I hope it continues to be a Schmuck exhibition venue. We talked to a few of the artists involved and they had been to the restaurant last year during Schmuck and basically discovered the space that way. As the exhibition/event list keeps growing and growing each year, I feel like this type of thing is happening a lot. So many of the exhibitions take place in odd locations. What I realized is pretty much anyone can have an exhibition in Munich, you just have to have a connection or a place. Munich 2014?

The Artists: Sungho Cho, Anja Eichler, Beate Eismann, Julia Heineccius, Young-Hee Hong, Wolfgang Löffler, Barbara Schrobenhauser, Gabi Veit, Manuel Vilhena
